I've been away the past couple of weekends with some of the greatest people in the world. First, Steve, Brian, Lindsay, Lauren, Carla and myself all went to Baltimore's Inner Harbor for a sneak peak weekend for this year's upcoming Radiate. The new location (years past it was in D.C.) is outstanding, with the hotel being right on the water and within walking distance of dozens of shops and restaurants. The kind people at Cru put us up in the hotel and took great care of us all weekend. The guys and I led worship on Saturday morning for group of students and staff. We played stripped down, and as a result, I forgot to bring my snare. It turns out that a bass drum pedal case can make a great sound! During one of the meetings we made headgear (pictures above) with these little fuzzy wire things they had on the tables. On Saturday night, Pete and Katy joined the six of us for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Mojitos anyone?
Last weekend, Steve, Brian and I rented a Suburban (amazing!!), loaded our gear and headed down to Radford, VA to lead worship for the Radford Cru Fall Retreat. We had a great time hanging out with and getting to know the students and staff. The camp was literally in the middle of nowhere. There was no cell phone service or anything. But it was beautiful. On Saturday, Aaron, one of the locals, took us into the town of Radford to show us around. We went to the Coffee Mill where we watched You Tube videos of Camel Spiders and Bot Flies (these are not for the faint of heart), and then had wings and fries at Sharky's, where a bunch of Hoakie fans were watching the game. Needless to say, it was loud.
I love when I get to go away with these guys! Great friends are a blessing!
